The premier of “Circus Vida Nueva” took place in the
center of San Isidro on July 12, 2003 and was a great success. The
students of the circus applied their creativity and talents to enchant
the public through an hour and a half of fun and magic. The presentation
comprised elements of juggling, miming, acrobatics and much more.
The instructors from the Nicaraguan group “Saperococlown”
(www. C3mundos.ni) and their director Diego Gene contributed largely
to the triumph with their dedicated training, help and support.
Overall, the presentation displayed an expression of unity: a mix
of cultures, ages, personalities and talents that working together,
delighted all involved.
Since the presentation, the group has received numerous invitations
to perform for various locations including the Ministry of Culture,
schools and sports teams. And of course, the students have also
been proudly presenting their talents within their own neighborhoods.
Such presentations help to encourage new participants within these
troubled neighborhoods and will also help develop the self-esteem,
creativity and recognition for those already involved.
The positive role-modeling, unfailing motivations and enduring friendships
expressed by the students are certainly among the greatest satisfactions
to the social workers with the project. The experience of the training
and presentation has encouraged and invigorated the preventative
social work of Vida Nueva.
