The third Cultural Festival on the Finca Longo Mai with the première of the circus work "el viaje del fuego

The third Cultural Festival on the Finca Longo Mai – Costa Rica, situated between the two cities San Isidro de El General and Buenos Aires was rich in activities for the kids as well as rich in presentations by professional artists: In the morning and in the

afternoon, the kids of San Isidros´ two poor districts Cocorí and Tierra Prometida and the kids of the Finca Longo Mai attended the circus classes of the professional, Nicaraguan circus group “Escuela de la Comedia el Mimo”, rehearsed a theatre play called “Historias de mi pueblo” with the Argentinean actors Diego and Diego, which they performed later on during the Festival or making necklaces and painting the façade of a house. The Volunteers, moreover, organized sport games or looked after the children when they were having a bath in the nearby river. At first in the evening there was always a presentation: The Argentinean Diego and Diego performed there theatre work “Deshojando Ilusiones, concierto para dos payasos”, that they already presented in various countries of South America and the circus from Nicaragua, conducted by Diego Gené, showed its skills with the play “Sueño”. In addition, there were the presentation of native dances of the Bribri from Salitre

as well as the première of the play “el viaje del fuego” by the circus of Tierra Prometida at the evening before last of the Festival. Although some hours before the presentation of “el viaje del fuego” during the dress rehearsal there were problems among the group

causing tears, the kids succeeded in presenting a very good première of the new work. Christina and Jullian were really flabbergasted. Probably it paid off, that the kids were able to rehearse with exactly those kids during the first days of the Festival, that took part in the presentation later on. Unfortunately, at the training in Tierra Prometida it happens often, that not all the kids are present

and it is not rare, that you know only one day before the presentation, which kids will definitely come to the presentation. It is very sad, that all the photos of the presentation itself disappeared. There are only pictures when the kids got make-up and some photos of the performances by the other groups from the days before.

This 1000 Dollar expensive Cultural Festival was able to be afforded thanks to European donations.
