Program of the European Tour of the Circus "FantazzTico" - June-July 2007
After more than 4 years working in the poorest comunities of Perez Zeledon, we are glad to inform you that the friendly asociation "Vida Nueva", based in San Isidro de El General, is about to realize the dream of his artists: an european tour! The "Circo FantazzTico" will spend 3 weeks in Austria, Switzerland and France, performing shows in each city.

Fifth Youth and Arts Festival of Longo Mai - 22-28 of january 2007
For the fifth year, the small village of Longo Mai, Costa Rica, received the "Arts and Youth Festival". This year, we had a huge participation from children from the poorest communities of Perez Zeledon, along with youngs volunteers from many countries, among them France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Venezuela, El Salvador, Colombia, Costa Rica.

Foundation of the South Alternative University (UAS) of Longo Mai
With a brief cultural ceremony, the "South Alternative University" (UAS) of Longo Mai has been founded in the home of the finca Sonador. This educative center will work as a cooperative, whom both teachers and students will be members.

UAS - Universidad Alternativa del Sur
The teachers Eduardo Saxe and Juan Gomez have developed a
project connected to the extension of Longo Mai. This project
tried to found an alternative university on the land of Longo

Construction of Cabins
For the inhabitants of Longo Mai, offering lodging to tourists
is one of the few opportunities to earn money; for single
mothers in particular, building cabinas is a great financial
help.

Women's Group
For the women of Longo Mai it is very difficult to earn money.
The only activity that earns them money is coffee harvests.
For this reason, in November 2003, a women’s group was
founded, similar to those in neighbouring villages.

Theatre Project
In March 2004, some volunteers started a theatre project
with school children from Longo Mai. The aim is to give the
pupils the chance to get involved in more creative activities
in school.

Dance Classes
For the last two years it has been possible to attend dance
classes in the village of Longo Mai. The tourists, volunteers,
Zivis (Austrians completing the civil service) alike enjoy
learning typical dances such as merengue, salsa and cumbia.

Project to paint the school
In the middle of March, Josephina Dallaire, a Canadian
arts teacher, initiated a project to paint a map of the
world on the wall of the school in Longo Mai.
